Northwestern Mutual Tower 2017

In 2017, Milwaukee financial powerhouse, Northwestern Mutual is changing the city's skyline in a big way. Their plans for a new tower, which will replace one of their former buildings with a failing design structure, will be "Milwaukee's first significant building of the 21st century." Not only will the building visually change a prominent part of down town, but it will also utilize the space better by being able to hold almost 2,000 more employees. Another interesting aspect about the project is that Northwestern Mutual will make ties to the community by allowing students from MSOE design the common space for the tower. Northwestern Mutual has been an essential part of Milwaukee's economy. For example, they are one of the only companies in Milwaukee who avoided laying off employees after the economic crisis of 2008. The new tower is a symbol of growth and reflects the impact Northwestern Mutual has had on our small city. Below you can see an illustration of the current building within the down town skyline and a few interior architectural drawings.
