This "journey" that certain art types progress through has been known about for a long time.
Countless examples of this transition fill our entertainment world, ranging from TV and movies, to video games and even comic books. Although I was already familiar with this fact as it pertains to this comic book turned 3D movie, I was recently reminded of it when my brother found a PC game based on this comic book movie.
If I was a professional artist (my job being either a comic book illustrator or a 3D animator) I would find it either humbling or greatly satisfying to see something I created get carried over from art style to art style...
