Vanishing Point in Photography: Blog Post 1

I found this awesome picture on http://tumblropenarts.tumblr.com/page/6

This photo is an awesome photo taken from below a very tall building. In last years, Visual Mathematics class, we learned all about vanishing points. This photo here has 1 vanishing point leading to the center of the picture. You can tell this by making two lines at the outside edges of the building and leading them to the center of the photo. When the two lines join together, that becomes the vanishing point. If you measure the distance of the line which leads to the vanishing point, that is the distance your eye should be from the picture. It's pretty cool how that class became handy when I look at photographs like these. It also looks really cool in pictures that have a street which lead off into the distance.
